NTU College of Law’s Associate Professor Yueh-Ping (Alex) Yang and law firm Lin & Partners were commissioned by the Academy for the Judiciary of the Ministry of Justice to conduct studies on emerging financial technologies, including third-party payment, electronic payment and the abuse of virtual currency in criminal crimes. The research collected and analyzed the types of crimes involved, the amount of money, the suspects involved, and the methods of crime. The research offers recommendations to amend the Criminal Code. Professor Yang presented his research results at the Taiwan Anti-Money Laundering Promotion Association, the Ministry of Justice’s Prosecutors’ Finance and Finance Program, and the Judicial Officers College’s Criminal Policy and Crime Prevention Research Conference. He exchanged ideas with the Judicial Academy, the payment industry, etc., and assisted the Money Laundering Prevention Office of the Executive Yuan in preparing the country’s annual national risk assessment report on money laundering, financing terrorism, and the expansion of weapons.
